Celebrate National Public Lands Day with KEEN!

Join the Kittitas Environmental Education Network (KEEN) on Saturday, September 26, for a free community celebration of the parks, rivers, trails, wildlife, and public lands that make Kittitas County such a special place.

Held at Helen McCabe Park, the future home of the Yakima Canyon Interpretive Center, this family-friendly event combines stewardship, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and community fun.

We'll kick off the day with the Helen McCabe Park Stewardship Challenge—a one-hour volunteer project to help care for the park and surrounding public lands. Then stay for an afternoon of exploration and celebration featuring educational booths, hands-on activities, nature games, a community fun run, scavenger hunts, youth fishing activities, a bullfrog-catching challenge, and more.

Bring a picnic lunch or enjoy offerings from local food vendors while meeting the organizations that help protect and care for the natural places we all enjoy.

Whether you're an avid outdoor enthusiast, a family looking for a fun day together, or someone who simply loves Kittitas County, there's something for everyone.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.

Together, let's celebrate the public lands that connect us—and the people who care for them.
