Kittanning Public Library presents an Author Visit, with Brady’s Bend native, Lisa Olszak Zumstein. She will share the history and research surrounding her first published work, The Brady's Bend Flood of 1980. Learn how a community responds to tragedy, as well as some surprising details that surfaced while researching similar floods. The presentation will include an open discussion with the audience. Thank you to Kittanning News for making Lisa's book available for purchase prior to her speaking engagements! Books will also be sold at her program or may be purchased through online retailers that can be found at www.olszak.com/home.  

Author Bio:
Retiring after more than 30 years as a successful small business owner, Lisa Olszak Zumstein’s passion for local history and writing found time to bloom. Growing up with eight siblings in the tightly knit rural Appalachian community of Brady’s Bend, Pennsylvania, hard work and resilience are ingrained in Lisa's life. Drawing on her career as an interviewer, researcher, analyst, and compelling writer, she uncovers the broader significance of a 1980 catastrophic storm and flood in her hometown of Brady’s Bend that killed nine people. With a talent for turning complicated technical information into clear, relatable terms, she captures the emotional and long-term effects of the catastrophic flood on everyday life.
