The Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival is presented by the Immigration Partnership and brings people together through stories of migration, identity, belonging and community. The festival invites audiences to experience different perspectives and connect through film.

About the Film: Journey of Resilience

Journey of Resilience tells the story of a determined Spanish immigrant who transforms the challenges she faces in Canada into a journey of resilience and hope. Through dance, she finds motivation to inspire and support fellow immigrants as they navigate their own journeys.

Created in Kitchener-Waterloo by Great Osa-Oni as a capstone project for Conestoga College’s Broadcasting Television and Independent Production program, the film reflects the experiences, creativity and resilience found within our local community.

The film has received several recognitions, including:

- Best Use of Music Score in a Film, Canadian Black Screen Awards, 2025

- Official Selection & Nominee, Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival, 2025

- Official Selection & Nominee, Brampton International Nollywood Film Festival, 2025

- Official Selection & Finalist, Clown Film Festival, 2025
