She has received multiple Independent Music Awards, and the 2014 Canadian Folk Music Award (CFMA) for Best Traditional Singer. She has been nominated for 7 more CFMA’s, including Traditional Singer in 2025. She has performed over 375 concerts in Canada, Australia, Europe, and the United States. Mélisande built her career with four albums in her “électrotrad” style (an original blend of traditional songs and electro music), before revisiting her repertoire for a 10th anniversary collection on the album Rembobine (Rewind). Rembobine features traditional Québécois songs performed in a traditional Québécois style. The songs, selected from her earlier recordings, come from folklorist collections and archives in Quebec, Ontario, and the US, and the repertoire of elders along the Richelieu River. With her infectious energy and engaging stage presence, Mélisande gets the crowd stomping, dancing and singing wherever she goes. The band, known for high energy and strong harmonies, is: Mélisande (lead vocal, jaw harp, mandolin), Alexandre de Grosbois-Garand (of Genticorum - wooden flute, bass), Jean Desrochers (acoustic guitar), Gabriel Girouard (fiddle, foot stomping) and Éric Breton (percussion). Mélisande will be releasing a new électrotrad album Sur la même longueur d’onde (On the same wavelength) in April 2026. This Ontario tour will feature unplugged versions of songs from the new album, as well as songs from Rembobine.
