ABOUT THIS EVENT

The open house will be a drop-in at the King Edward Public School gym. Staff and consultants will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and hear feedback. At this event, we will have available:

A free light meal and refreshments

Free pre-paid EasyGO cards. (Just tell us at the welcome desk if you used transit)

Child-minding for ages 4 to 10

King Edward Public School is served by Grand River Transit. If you are travelling by bike or by car, there is a parking lot, outdoor bike racks, and street parking next to the school.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Climate change will bring more intense storms and more frequent freeze-thaw cycles. Creating more spaces for stormwater to collect will reduce flooding during future storms.

Runoff from the Cherry Park neighbourhood flows untreated through a creek channel in Cherry Park to Schneider Creek. This creek then ultimately flows into the Grand River. Adding a stormwater feature to the park will filter and slow water down to prevent erosion and improve water quality.

By adding stormwater storage to the neighbourhood, we would:

Intercept runoff before it rushes into Schneider Creek
Allow sediment to settle out of the stormwater before slowly releasing cleaner water into the creek to prevent erosion.
