ACO Carnegie Library Series: Phillip Carter on Restoration
The talk will focus on Phillip Carter's work on Carnegie library restoration. The firm of Phillip H. Carter Architect was established at its present address in 1972. It has completed projects over a wide range of building types and sizes, earning its reputation for design excellence as well as client and user satisfaction. The history of the firm is succinctly outlined in the list of awards it has received.The firm has specialized in institutional work such as libraries, health care facilities, recreational buildings, seniors’ housing and galleries. As the awards list shows, we are best known for our library work, having completed some thirty+ library projects throughout Ontario. Many of these projects have involved the restoration and renovation of historic Carnegie library buildings from the early 20th Century, and we have completed other historical restorations. Phillip Carter is active in heritage matters at both local and provincial levels.
