**Celebrating the Voices of Orkney’s North Isles **
The North Isles of Orkney are rich in stories — tales of ancestors, landscapes, livelihoods, and the ever-changing rhythms of island life. To capture and preserve these voices, the Oral History of the North Isles Project set out to record the memories and experiences of islanders from across generations.
Through heartfelt interviews, the project explored how people’s lives have been shaped by farming, heritage, language, and community, uncovering what gives each island its own distinct identity while revealing the shared spirit that unites them all.
Now, these stories have been brought together in a new book celebrating the project’s findings, offering a window into the social, economic, and cultural history of the North Isles. This remarkable archive ensures that the voices of the past will continue to inspire the present and future.
Join us for a talk on the book launch and our Annual General Meeting, and be part of this celebration of island life, memory, and community.
