Join the Daring to Share Elder Care Advocacy Series — where residents, families, care partners, professionals, and advocates come together to learn, connect, and champion meaningful improvements in Ontario's care system—private care, home care, independent living, assisted living, and long-term care

Listen. Learn. Connect. Advocate.

This Daring to Share Advocate for Change campaign invites Ontarians to become informed about our care system before they or someone they love is immersed in crisis.

CHOOSE THE TOPICS THAT RESONATE WITH YOU

Daring to Share brings together education, lived experience, and advocacy through a series of engaging conversations designed to help you:

• Better understand the many facets of our care system through educators, caregivers, and care workers.
• Know what questions to ask and how to advocate
• Recognize gaps and challenges in care
• Learn from the experiences of others
• Take part in constructive conversations that can lead to meaningful change

WHY DARING TO SHARE?

Too often, families enter care without knowing what to expect, what questions to ask or how to effectively advocate for themselves or someone they love.

Daring to Share aims to change that.

We also invite you to share your care advocacy experience anonymously—whether you advocated for yourself, a loved one, or someone who could not speak for themselves.

Every story matters.

At each Daring to Share event, we will bring experiences to life through a panel of caregivers who will share their personal journeys through this complicated system: the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and what they wish they had known before becoming advocates.

Their stories will help create honest, informed conversations about what families experience and why advocacy matters.

Every story will help raise awareness, expose gaps in care and strengthen the call for a more compassionate, accountable and person-centred care system.

THE CONVERSATION STARTS WITH A STORY

For one family, the experience began with a simple request: that an agreed-upon care plan be followed.

“I was told my expectations were ‘too high’ when I simply asked that my husband’s agreed-upon care plan be followed. I wasn’t asking for exceptional care — I was asking for the care he had been promised.”

That experience became a powerful reminder of how easily advocates can be made to question themselves when they are simply fighting for a loved one’s safety, dignity, and well-being.

FROM SILENCE TO ACTION

No one should have to navigate these experiences alone or in silence.

Education is a powerful tool for advocacy.

When we understand the system, we can advocate with greater confidence.
When we share our experiences, others know they are not alone.
When stories are heard, gaps become harder to ignore.
And when we come together, advocacy can turn into action.

Through Daring to Share Long-Term Care, our goal is to help build a more informed and empowered community of advocates — one that can contribute to conversations about policy, accountability, and the future of elder care.

LEARN. CONNECT. ADVOCATE FOR CHANGE.
