These monthly dates are way to tend to our personal and collective grief in intentional and embodied ways --through creative writing exercises, dance invitations and interactive movement. A place to connect with others in a small group to share about, be with and gently explore the grief we are carrying with us. Everyone welcome, wherever you are on your grief journey.
 
Suitable for those with varying levels of fitness and mobility. Movement activities can be as active or gentle as you feel comfortable with. 

Wear comfortable clothes and please bring a notebook and pen as well as indoor shoes or slippers. 

When: 4th Monday of the month from March to May. (With a special pride month date on Thursday June 25th for the lgbtq2si community.)

Upcoming: April 27th     7:00pm-8:30pm

We will start a few minutes after 7 and after that the doors will be closed to new attendees.

Where: The Artery, 844A Princess St.

About The Artery venue:

The Artery entrance has no steps to enter.

Bathrooms are gender-neutral and on the same level as the rest of the space.

There is no automatic door or railing.

The Artery is on a bus route. There is street parking nearby.

The Artery is a community gathering space and gallery located in Kingston/Kataraqi which is situated on the unceded lands of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Huron-Wendat Peoples. Indigenous peoples remain stewards of these lands to this day.

Who am I? I consider this a peer-led practice, which I hope to also benefit from. Over the last year or so I have led, participated in, and done a lot of reading about community grief practices. I have a lot to learn but it has become clear how supportive and important they can be for many. I am a poet, carpenter, ecstatic dance leader, stilt-walker, art walk organizer, creative space-maker and community space-holder. I have spent a lot of my life (though not enough!) cultivating creative expression through writing, dance, movement and art and would love to keep exploring these with others. In the context of grief I've found them a key outlet for making being with hard feelings easier, and have used them as ritual or ceremony for honouring change and significant loss.
