Santa will direct you to the entrance of Bethlehem, where you will begin your journey by signing the census and paying your tax to the tax collector (a gold coin will be provided) Be aware - Roman guards will be stationed to ensure all taxes are paid and they will also be keeping order throughout Bethlehem.
Then, explore the interactive Bethlehem marketplace, where you can:
-Watch and hear directly from the artisans crafting goods as they would in the biblical era.
-Sample their food and treats.
-Visit and talk with crafters representing trades from the time of Christ.
-Talk with townspeople throughout Bethlehem about the "rumors" of a Messiah born nearby.
-Try your hand at games from the time of Christ, using real small animal bones.
-Touch real crucifixion nails.
-Hear from a prophet foretelling the coming Messiah.
-Encounter a prisoner, offering a powerful reminder of the redemption story.
-Be sure to visit the Nativity scene and talk with Mary, who will share the story of her journey.
-Witness the REAL Christmas story come to life.
Plus, meet live animals throughout the market - a donkey, chickens, and possibly even a goat for cheese!

***After your journey through Bethlehem, be sure to stop by our modern-day Christmas area just outside the city gates! There you may find modern vendors offering seasonal items and gifts. This area is not part of the Bethlehem experience and reflects today's celebration of the season. There will also be a free wooden ornament for the kids to decorate and take home.
