In this workshop, we’ll demystify the budgeting process and show you how to create clear, realistic budgets that can strengthen your grant applications and make sure your projects are both feasible and successful. You'll learn the basics of building a budget, understand common budgeting mistakes to avoid, and get an introduction to using Excel spreadsheets to keep everything organized and professional.​The second part of the workshop will be a hands-on activity where you'll start sketching out your own budget ideas. If you have a laptop, please bring it along so you can practice in Excel! If not, no problem — paper and pen will do just fine.By the end of the session, you’ll have practical tools and templates to help you feel more confident and ready to fund your next big idea.Register to secure your spot!About the FacilitatorAlejandro Salgado Cendales is a professional multidisciplinary artist, arts administrator, and cultural leader with over a decade of experience supporting artists and arts organizations through grant writing, project planning, and professional development. He currently serves as Senior Director at MASC and Executive Director of the Multicultural Artists' Coalition (MAC-CAM), where he leads initiatives that strengthen the careers of artists through capacity-building programs, advocacy, and community partnerships.As a practicing artist himself, Alejandro understands the realities of balancing creativity with the practical demands of running a sustainable artistic practice. He has successfully developed and managed project budgets for exhibitions, festivals, public art commissions, artist residencies, and multi-year funding applications, helping secure support from municipal, provincial, federal, and private funders.Alejandro holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Socially Engaged Art from Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). His combined experience as both an artist and an arts leader allows him to bridge creative vision with practical project management, making complex topics like budgeting approachable and relevant for fellow artists.
