- **Event Name**: ArtLife Institute: J. Alex Mathews, Sarah Pletcher & Kat Brown
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 14 Dec, 2019 at 07:00 pm – Sun, 15 Dec, 2019 at 08:00 pm
- **Event Description**: Three of our second-year grads will be showing at the ArtLife Institute December 14th and 15th.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 14TH 7PM
J. Alex Mathews' performance piece explores bodily materiality, light, and balloons. It's an inquiry into intimacy and loneliness, as well as a quest for an essential self or non-self.

In Me, Myself and Me, Sarah Pletcher engages in conversation with a cutout version of themselves, ruminating on shared memories through the performance of intimate embraces, mundane tasks (hair brushing, changing clothes) and duet movement.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15TH 2PM
Iris’s Accumulation by Kat Brown is a four-hour durational dance performance. The work operates in cycles that are meant to excavate somatic memory and explore the relationship between accumulation and disintegration. Iris's Accumulation is rooted in somatic practice and built on the idea that trusting the traumatized body is a radical act.

All performances take place at the Art Life Insitute. Join us for an artist reception for Alex, Sarah, and Kat on Sunday after Iris's Accumulation at 6pm!
