It opened in early 2020 and won the prestigious 2021 Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling prize as Britain’s best new building! In addition, the building was also awarded the 2022 EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.The structure combines thoughtful design with functionality, offering performance, learning, exhibition and community spaces. It also houses the library, which is open late during term time. Plus, there are flexible study and social spaces, a covered courtyard, cafes, dance studios, roof-top gardens and seasonal landscaping.Stanley Picker Gallery curate the building's art installations, which currently include , by Diana Puntar. A sculpture, that with community contribtions, unpicks the alternative heritage and past and present narratives of the borough.Our fun and free session for children ages 7-11 will be led by a team of Kingston School of Art students and alumni, and during their visit the young artists will explore Town House and Diana Puntar's practice – combining interactive games, drawing, and discussion.Parents are encouraged to drop their children off by the Christmas Tree and return at the end of the session, to see what has been taking place and to explore the museum together.
