His work blends classic boom-bap influences with modern-day consciousness, making him both a nostalgic and relevant voice in hip-hop.

In 2011, Akrobatik faced a life-threatening health scare when he suffered a ruptured heart valve. He underwent emergency surgery and made a full recovery — a journey that shaped the themes of his 2014 album Built to Last, which Spin named one of the year’s best hip-hop albums.

Akrobatik's energetic live performances inspire both old-school hip-hop heads and new listeners with music that balances raw talent, resilience, and purpose.
