About this Event

Kings Mountain Historical Museum is excited to host Author Dixie Abernathy as she discusses her novel "Promise of a Nation," the first book in the Cramerton Trilogy. This historical fiction trilogy chronicles the story of Stuart W. Cramer and the town of Cramerton, North Carolina as well as explores Cramer's contributions to the textile industry with the development of air conditioning and army khaki fabric.

Dr. Dixie F. Abernathy is a former public-school teacher, principal, and central office administrator who currently enjoys her work as a professor and Chair of the Cato School of Education at Queens University of Charlotte. Abernathy holds degrees in Education from Wake Forest University and Winthrop University, and received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University. Her most prolific author collection includes the numerous novels published under her pen name, Jordan R. Samuel. In 2022, when she was working on her fifth novel, she was asked to become involved in the writing of this incredible, timeless journey of the Stuart W. Cramer family and the founding of the town of Cramerton.

Special Co-Host, Jeff Ramsey, will also be attending. Ramsey is an editor of the trilogy, a founder of the Cramerton Historical Society, and serves on the Gaston County Board of Education.
