Provided by Alcohol Change UK, this half-day course will equip staff with the knowledge, tools and confidence to identify and respond to alcohol-related harm in older adults through effective screening, brief intervention and appropriate care planning.Learning ObjectivesBy the end of this course, participants will be able to:Understand alcohol units, guidelines, and how to apply them in conversations with older drinkersUse and interpret validated alcohol screening tools appropriate to older peopleDeliver brief interventions and communicate advice effectively Recognise key motivators for drinking in later life and the wider context of alcohol use in older adults Identify physical, psychological and social consequences of alcohol use in this age groupAssess patters of drinking and related risks Identify and refer to appropriate local support or treatment servicesConstruct care plans for older adults who may not engage with traditional treatment routesTerms and conditions-- Please only book a place if you are certain you can attend.
