Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Rodriguez’s passion for music thrived despite immense challenges—practicing scales on a table painted with piano keys in the absence of an instrument. His breakout moment came at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where Quincy Jones recognized his immense talent, leading to an invitation to work in the U.S. and a bold decision to leave his homeland behind.
Now based in Miami, Rodriguez’s latest album, Coral Way, reflects his new life, weaving together Latin pop, jazz, and Afro-Cuban rhythms in a celebration of cultural unity. His music has been praised by The New York Times, DownBeat, NPR’s Tiny Desk, and the Wall Street Journal. At the same time, his viral videos showcasing Cuban timba interpretations of popular songs continue to win him fans across the globe.
