Bragg also brings to light primary sources that are published here for the first time—revealing documents that provide fresh insight into the political and cultural values of Moultrie and his fellow South Carolinians.Dr. Chip Bragg was born in Sumter, S.C., raised in Augusta, Ga., and graduated from Georgia Southern College and the Medical College of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps before relocating to Thomasville, Georgia, where he practiced anesthesiology for 33 years. Although he has lived in Georgia for many years, Chip and his wife, Kim, who was born in Greenville, South Carolina, consider themselves expatriate South Carolinians. They have three grown sons.Chip is the assistant secretary general of the Society of the Cincinnati, the nation’s oldest patriotic organization, founded in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army and their French counterparts who served together during the American Revolution. In this role, he also serves as the editor-in-chief of the Society’s journal, Cincinnati Fourteen.Chip’s lifelong passion for American history has resulted in the publication of six books and numerous articles. He has studied, written about, and lectured on South Carolina during the Revolution for nearly two decades.
