Malas, a sacred strand of beads and intention that tie us to the Self, and to each other. Yogis and Buddhists were the first to use malas, a Sanskrit word meaning "garland" or "impurity", centuries ago, to enhance the practice of japa meditation (mantra meditation) to keep count of the number of repetitions a mantra is chanted and is meant to help focus the mind, cultivating deep awareness and mental grounding, and to connect to the Self on a deeper spiritual level.
Mantras are sacred sounds, utterances, or hymns repeated to aid concentration in meditation. In Sanskrit, mantra means ‘a thought, or thought behind speech or action', and is used as a tool of the mind and inadvertently includes some breathwork techniques. Mantras may also be a word or affirmation repeated with emphasis, emotion, and intention, and may have personal or spiritual interpretations. The names of a deity, concepts of truth, light, immortality, peace, love, compassion, strength, knowledge, and action, or even overcoming fears and obstacles, may be used in the chanting of mantra.
Heard from the soul, passed from friend to friend, from one generation to the next, these are sacred strands of union, blended into art, science, resonance, and commUNITY, and we couldn't be more excited to share this practice with YOU!!
