- **Event Description**: Adapted Exercise Class specifically for people living with Arthritis and other related conditions facilitated Physiotherapist Johanna DoyleAbout this EventThis 6 week adapted exercise programme will be delivered by physiotherapist Johanna Doyle, In the Arts Centre in McAuley PlaceEach programme runs for 6 weeks, 1 session per week for 1 hour and will take place in person. The 6 week programme costs €30 ex fees - which works out at €5 per class each week.This specifically adapted exercise programme will help increase flexibility, strength, balance and mobility. It will also aim to reduce pain and stiffness and improve muscle strength and functional ability.Exercise — including range-of-motion and stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination activities, and endurance routines.Regular exercise is proven to be one of the most effective treatments for arthritis. It reduces pain, keeps joints moving, restores flexibility and strength and protects joints against further damage. However, only 30% of people with arthritis in Ireland get enough exercise, as overcoming fears about exercise can be very difficult – especially when in pain.To attend these classes, participants will have to be independently mobile.Participants are not advised to attend these classes if they have the following:-Poor balance-Unable to follow commands clearly-People with active inflammationPlaces are limited, if you would like to register for the programme, please click on the links above to book your place through Eventbrite, if you require any further information please email our Community Support Officer at community@arthritisireland.ie or call our Helpline on 0818 252 846 - (Our Helpline operates Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm)
