To celebrate the anniversary of the planting of our Perllan Gwen - Gwen’s Orchard here at the Princess Gwenllian Centre were holding a Wassail on the 31st January 2026. This is a great opportunity to start a fun new tradition in Kidwelly! Our trees are only a few feet tall, and this Wassail will grow with our orchard over the upcoming years.  

So, wrap up warm bring your pots, pans and wooden spoons to make a racket as we walk over, and ward away the evil spirits! Also, any lanterns. flashlights or fairy lights to light up the trees or yourself!

After the Wassail we'll be opening the bar for mulled cider and drinks and music!

Wassailing has had an amazing revival recently and we want to add lots of folk elements into our Wassail with the opportunity to add more as the event grows!

Wassail has its origins from old Norse “wase hail” which means good health or to be fortunate. Traditionally Its purpose is to wake up the trees, protect them from bad spirits and ensure a plentiful crop the following harvest. 
So come and join in Perllan Gwen’s first Wassail!
