Originally as Banc Organics, and more recently as Tir Awel, we’ve been growing food for our local community for over 15 years, sharing the harvest throughout the year with our box scheme members. We also work with, support and are supported by other local growers. We grow our vegetables with no artificial chemical inputs and with great care and respect for the other fauna, flora and all-sorts-of-critters with whom we share the land. We’ve always believed that food and community are closely linked, and we’re looking into ways of strengthening and deepening that connection in our local area through shared seasonal feasts and dedicated volunteer days at our field.We’d love for you to join us for an afternoon of good food and good conversation so that we can celebrate the abundance the summer brings and chat about the future of Tir Awel’s work in the community. Whether you’ve been involved in our organisation for years, or you’ve not heard of us before, your opinions and ideas are really important in shaping our next steps. We’ve like to know:- What community meals mean to you, and how you’d like them to be organised- What difference growing more of our own food can make to local people- Any ideas you have for future activities or projects. There will be conversation prompts on the tables, along with sticky notes and postcards for you to write ideas down, and members of the Tir Awel team will be chatting to people to collect ideas, too. There’s no pressure to contribute, though – everyone is welcome.
