- **Event Description**: This introductory night-sky session is perfect for those new to astrophotography. We'll learn how to identify key constellations, understand the seasonal path of the Milky Way, and locate planets and other notable sky objects. On the headland overlooking Kiama, you'll practise essential astro techniques including planning, focusing in the dark, exposure settings, camera setup, and composing with a foreground. Although the Milky Way will rise later in the night, stars will be visible and we'll also capture the coastal lights as a seascape. A tripod is required, and basic knowledge of adjusting exposure settings is recommended. A separate meet-up, "Up-late for the Milky Way" will follow this skills session, if you are keen for a double session to put your skills to the test.
