SUNRISE FLIGHTS:
Friday (11th), Saturday (12th) and Sunday (13th) sunrise flights - hot air balloons will launch out of the bowl. Flights will take place at approximately 6:30am each day. Viewing for spectators is located along the Stratobowl Rim Trail.

(FYI: there will not be an evening glow this year.)

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

Viewing is not allowed from the launch field -  it is PRIVATE PROPERTY and does not have enough access to provide safe access for spectators.

The launch is not a guarantee because it is weather dependent. Pilots will determine if the conditions are safe prior to launch. Sometimes we cancel last minute, but we do our best to communicate in real time. Please check for updates on the main page throughout the course of the weekend.

This is not an organized event, it is merely a planned launch with high local interest. Viewing is from within the Black Hills National Forest via the Stratobowl Rim Trail - please be respectful and follow all rules associated with being on public lands.

Facilities, such as bathrooms, coffee, etc are not available. Please plan accordingly by bringing water, chairs, cameras, etc. Please be safe when parking and walking to the viewing area. It is highly recommended to wear high visibility clothing and carry a flashlight when walking to the trailhead. If you have not been here before the trailhead is located on a major highway and there is little to no parking - so you are doing this at your own risk.
