The Upper Great Southern Regional Office, in conjunction with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Community Preparedness Division, invites you to an event like no other.
In 2023, Popanyinning farmer and dedicated volunteer firefighter of 45 years, Tim Haslam, sustained life-threatening burns while defending his property from a header fire.
Tim’s courage, resilience, and willingness to share his journey offer valuable insights and lessons for our community.
We warmly invite you to join us for a community gathering to honour and thank the Haslam Family for their generosity in sharing their story.
During the event, we are proud to present and promote the DFES Lived Experience Resource Pilot Project, which features eight individual media clips telling Tim Haslam’s compelling story.
Through these clips, Tim delivers key safety messages that are both relatable and impactful:
• The importance of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
• The need to think critically under pressure during emergency situations
• The imperative to call 000 immediately
