ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
Pigments of the Earth merges art science, and technology to explore the significance of natural pigments drawn from the earth. The artists investigate how the planet produces its own colours, sounds, odours and movements by transforming pigments through processes such as mineral oxidation, microbial fermentation and electronic sensing. 
Agrivina and Humoto have spent 12 weeks researching the landscape of Narrogin, working with local artists, community members and Noongar Elders to integrate their findings of local heritage, environmental practice and First Nations knowledge into their work. By combining artistic exploration, local knowledge and scientific research, the artists present a unique perspective through an immersive installation which integrates sound and interactive elements.  


ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND ARTIST TALK
Join HONF artist Irene Agrivina for a fun free workshop which merges science and technology to experiment with colour, sounds and scents through a multisensory process which will not disappoint!  
The workshop explores how natural pigments can evolve into colour, sound, and scent through biological, chemical, and technological processes. Participants will work with fermented ochres to study biochromatic transformations (living colour changes), sonification (translating colour data into sound), and olfaction (creating perfumes from mineral pigments).  

The Workshop, Artist Talk and Exhibition are all activities with FREE entry. Workshop space is limited to 10 participants, please register to secure your place!


ABOUT SPACED: CIRCULAR ECONOMIES
SPACED: Circular Economies has seen five international, national and local artists spend sustained time in regional WA communities, supported by local arts organisations. The artists have dedicated their time in residence to socially engaged arts practice that engages local communities and is responsive to local contexts and the project theme of Circular Economies.
