Great Mell Fell and Little Mell Fell

We will meet in the layby near Brownrigg Farm (not too far from Ullswater) and walk up the lane along the lower flanks of the fell.
A path turns off the lane heading uphill but it is an easy climb. The fell is grassy with rounded slopes, accessible for most walkers. It has the advantage of being isolated from neighbouring fells, so commands good views in all directions
After enjoying lovely views, we will walk back down via a different path which will finally link up with ascent path, and then just the case of retracing steps back to the layby.
Afterwards we will be off to tackle nearby Little Mell Fell as well.
