Join an SCDNR Naturalist and find out! Hikes with a Naturalist are introductory explorations into the natural world around us. These hikes will cover topics ranging from local wildlife and fishes to best hiking practices and land management. Topics will vary depending on the trail, but hikes are always open to anyone with an admiration for the natural world and a goal to live life outdoors. Hikes are typically 1-2 hours in length and the ability to walk over uneven terrain in varying weather is required. For more information regarding an upcoming Hikes with a Naturalist program contact the Conservation Education section at ConservationEd@dnr.sc.gov or 839-250-9954. Reminders:What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Other items to consider bringing include a hat, sunglasses, comfortable hiking shoes, bug spray, binoculars, a snack and water. A day pack or hiking pack and trekking poles are always useful but not required. Costs: Hikes are always free of charge. Hikes may be canceled if hazardous weather occurs.
