The prophet Isaiah writes in 40:1, “Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God.”
You are invited to join our grief support group at First Ev. Lutheran Church. We will gather together for the purpose of exploring what the journey of grief is like and how we can support each other along the way.
Everyone carries losses in different ways, and grief can show up differently for you depending on the day, too. We will learn more about what grief looks like, how to sit with it in your everyday life, and strategies to do your best to continue to live the life you desire to have.
We’ll center our time together in Scripture–in our own faith tradition which has a rich variety of resources and experiences of people living with grief on many levels–personal, communal, societal, and global. We’ll hear how people in the Bible lived with and responded to grief, we’ll read and maybe even journal a bit to help us process and make sense of the world, and we’ll ground ourselves in God’s promise for eternal life through Christ.
Know that you are loved and that you are not alone in your grief journey. Whether you’re in a place where you feel like grief is getting the best of you or if you feel good and that you are handling the loss in your life well, I invite you to come and join this group. Each of you holds wisdom from your own lived experience that can enrich the whole group.
During our sessions, we’ll have some time together as a large group and then split into smaller support groups as needed. Feel free to bring treats to share–I’ll have coffee and water ready for everyone. And, invite others in your life who may be interested in joining something like this.
