- **Event Name**: SugarShuttle: Sugarloaf ↔ Hood Mtn Regional Park, Pythian Rd
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 05 Sep, 2026 at 08:00 am – Sat, 05 Sep, 2026 at 11:00 am (-07:00)
- **Event Description**: Want to do a thru-hike from Sugarloaf to Hood Mountain or vice versa? Ride the Sugar-Hood Shuttle! Shuttle also offered on Sunday, September 6: https://sec.regfox.com/2026sepsunshuttle

How it works: Every half hour, our Shuttle will leave from either Sugarloaf Ridge State Park's Visitor Center (making a brief stop at the Goodspeed parking lot) or Hood Mountain Regional Park’s Pythian Rd parking lot (with a brief stop at the equestrian lot). Make a reservation to ride to the other end of the trail and begin your hike, or hike and ride back. We recommend riding first and hiking back to your car afterward– no worries about how long you take to finish your adventure. The hike should take 3½ to 4½ hours depending on your pace; the distance is about 7.4 miles one-way with approximately 2,300ft of elevation gain.

Bring at least 64 oz of water, sun protection (the majority of the trail is exposed), a good paper map (some of the trail signs on Hood Mtn Regional Park are still damaged from the 2020 wildfire and trails might not be well marked), and if desired, hiking poles, a friend, and a lunch.

If you are riding from Sugarloaf, the Goodspeed lot fills up quickly. If it is full, please park at the main lot and pick up the shuttle at the Visitor Center (you will have to hike a mile back to the main lot from the bottom of the canyon/Goodspeed lot). If the Hood Mt. Pythian Lot is full, please park at the Equestrian Lot, by the Hood House, in Los Guilicos.

View pick up/drop off times and availability at the ticketing link. Registration is required as there is only space for 6 riders at a time, but you can ride on a space-available basis as well. There is no charge for the ride, the $10 reservation fee is refunded on site the day of the event, unless you choose to donate it to keep this service running. Dogs and bikes are not allowed in the shuttle or on Goodspeed Trail (the State Park portion of the hiking route). Parking fees apply.

Shuttle operated by Team Sugarloaf/Sonoma Ecology Center in collaboration with Sonoma County Regional Parks.
