Watching paint dry isn’t boring when you are playing with watercolours!  

Join Susan Bulman for an afternoon of watercolour exploration on Saturday, March 21 from 1-4pm at the Douglas Family Art Centre.  

The class will begin with exercises concentrating on key watercolour techniques including: wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, lifting, and glazing.  You will observe what happens to watercolours when another colour is added into, or at the edge, of a freshly painted area.  Additions will be immediate and then timed after that at 15, 30, and 60 seconds.  There will be a difference in the reaction depending on how wet or dry the paper is so yes, we will be watching paint dry!

In this class you will learn how to create interesting watercolour effects that can be used with any subject you decide to paint — landscape, cityscape, still-life, portrait, or abstract. 

A refreshment break half-way through the class will allow you to look around at what others have done and exchange ideas.  In the second half of the class, you can create your own abstract or paint one similar to examples provided by Susan.

A creative, colourful way to spend a winter afternoon — look forward to seeing you there!

Registration and payment are required to reserve your space in this class. This program is suitable for adults and teenagers (ages 13+). The cost to register is $45 +HST for non-members or $40.50 +HST for MUSE members. Limited to 16 participants. All materials are supplied.
