Learn how to repair damaged ceramics and transform flaws into unique features.About this EventCome and learn the modern method of Japanese kintsugi with Kendal Repair Cafe’s resident ceramics mender! Yukari will show you how to repair chipped or cracked ceramics using synthetic lacquer and gold powder to restore and enhance your items.Kintsugi ("golden joinery”) treats breakage and repair as part of the history or story of an object. In kintsugi, flaws are enhanced because it is though that these make an object unique and increase it's value.No experience necessary. Class sizes are kept small making sure that everyone gets attention and assistance when needed. All Simply Repair workshops are relaxed, comfortable and open to all.You will learn how toprepare and use adhesive, synthetic lacquer and gold powder in the modern Kintsugi methodrepair cracks and fill chips in ceramic objects such as cups, plates, bowlsrestore broken ceramic items: Yukari will advise which items to work on during the workshop and how to tackle others at home.We will provide:all repair materials and toolsfull instructions and guidance on the modern kintsugi repair methodhot drinks and biscuits (organic and palm-oil free)What to bring2 or more chipped, cracked or broken ceramic items in need of repair. If you don't have anything yourself, ask friends and family.£10 cash, if you would like to buy a kintsugi kit (gold powder and 'lacquer') to take home.Please email a photograph of your items in advance of the workshop, so that Yukari can confirm suitability.
