Think of it like a health check for your home. Clear out old paints, cleaning products and other hazardous items in a way thatโs safe, simple and environmentally responsible.
You can bring household quantities (up to 20 litres or 20 kilograms per item) of:
๐น Solvents, household cleaners, and floor care products
๐น Ammonia-based cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, and poisons
๐น Pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, acids, and alkalis
๐น Smoke detectors, paint, gas bottles, and fire extinguishers
๐น Car and household batteries, motor fuels, fluorescent globes and tubes
๐น Motor oils and cooking oils
You can still drop off many problem household wastes year-round for free at the Community Recycling Centre, including:
โป๏ธ Fluorescent lights, smoke detectors, paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, batteries and oils.
The Community Recycling Centre is also taking part in trials for:
๐ Embedded (built-in) battery recycling โ until September 2026
โ๏ธ Solar panel recycling โ until June 2026
These items can also be dropped off for free during the trial period.
