It’s time for a cleanout! Safely dispose of those unwanted, hazardous household chemicals you’ve been meaning to deal with — for FREE.

📍 Waste Management Centre, Crescent Head Road
Think of it like a health check for your home. Clear out old paints, cleaning products and other hazardous items in a way that’s safe, simple and environmentally responsible.
You can bring household quantities (up to 20 litres or 20 kilograms per item) of:
🔹 Solvents, household cleaners, and floor care products
🔹 Ammonia-based cleaners, pesticides, herbicides, and poisons
🔹 Pool chemicals, hobby chemicals, acids, and alkalis
🔹 Smoke detectors, paint, gas bottles, and fire extinguishers
🔹 Car and household batteries, motor fuels, fluorescent globes and tubes
🔹 Motor oils and cooking oils
You can still drop off many problem household wastes year-round for free at the Community Recycling Centre, including:
♻️ Fluorescent lights, smoke detectors, paint, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, batteries and oils.
The Community Recycling Centre is also taking part in trials for:
🔋 Embedded (built-in) battery recycling — until September 2026
☀️ Solar panel recycling — until June 2026
These items can also be dropped off for free during the trial period.
