Ahead of the iconic Jim Clark Rally in May, the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs, Scottish Motorsport Marshals Club, and the rally organisers are running a training day on Saturday 18 April in Duns.
Taking place from 9am to 4pm, the programme blends classroom learning with practical outdoor stage rally training. Open to both newcomers and experienced marshals, the day offers a great opportunity to build confidence, refine skills, and play a key role in making rallying possible.
Those new to marshalling will receive full preparation for their first rally season, while experienced volunteers can refresh and extend their knowledge in line with the latest marshalling practices and Motorsport UK guidelines. The training is completely free, with coffee and lunch provided.
You will spend the day learning from rally people, working in real-world scenarios, and gaining practical experience at the heart of motorsport.
Training sessions cover Introduction to Rally Marshalling, Closed Road Rallying, Spectator Safety and Management, and First on Scene response.
Attendance also counts towards grade maintenance or upgrade requirements for Motorsport UK licence holders on the Marshals’ Pathway, making this a fantastic chance to get involved, develop your skills, and deepen your passion for rallying.
