Short & Few Creative Workshops, Mayfield Avenue, Keighley, United Kingdom
WHAT WILL I GET FROM THIS WORKSHOP?
You will make a paper-leaf wreath using an experimental photography method known as cyanotypes, combined with drawing and mark-making techniques. Refreshments are provided.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
In this workshop you will explore the process of cyanotypes, a cameraless form of photography where we will use the sunlight to capture silhouettes of different leaves. By adding additional colour using vibrant neons, bold white and textured pencils and pastels, you will create a striking botanical wreath that can be displayed all year round (in doors only, though - it won't be waterproof).
Everything you need is provided, and cyanotype kits are available to purchase so you can continue the process at home to add more leaves, or start on your own cyanotypes project.
WHO IS MY TUTOR?
Short & Few runs creative workshops in Ilkley, including printmaking, alternative photography and bookmaking. It is run by Zoe, a qualified and experienced art tutor currently teaching at a specialist arts university in Leeds. My background is in graphic design and typography, but over the years I have developed a deep interest in process-driven arts and hands-on analogue practices. I am a big believer in learning by doing and making mistakes as a form of enquiry, an ethos which underpins my teaching. Cyanotypes really do feel like magic when you see them exposing, and the addition of drawing over the top makes them truly unique.
