- **Event Description**: Learn to block out your idea starting with a block of wood and carve a figurine! This class uses Scandinavian Flat Plane Carving.

Starting with a 2×2.5×6 basswood block students will sketch both front and side views on the block.  Using a band saw they will cut the front view, tape it back together and then cut the side view to get a “blocked out” starting point from which to begin carving.  From there the class will proceed to carve a simple “flat plane” figure in the  Scandinavian style.  This two day class will provide all the tools and instruction necessary however students are encouraged to bring their own carving tools if they have them.
