Intro to Carpentry introduces students to the basic tools, skills and concepts necessary to tackle projects in home renovation and remodeling.

Students will be working to become proficient with tools such as hammers, hand saws, squares, chisels, and demolition tools. Additionally this course will be covering measuring, chalk lining and project layout techniques. Additional focus will be spent on equipment and job safety.

Hands-on elements include the building of saw horses and working with framing principals (students keep sawhorses).

Intro to Carpentry sets up the student with the necessary skills to continue onto our Carpentry Level II, Layout and Framing, in addition, sets up students for our future Micro-Home Building courses. Carpentry Level I includes 8 weeks of classes, each taking place Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:30pm. No experience necessary.

Our Carpentry Instructor, Aaron has been in the building trades for nearly 40 years working as a remodeling and restoration contractor. He’s worked on small projects and million dollar renovations, is well versed in all phases of construction, and loves the industry.
