One of the best competitive programs for young golfers is the US Kids program. US Kids is dedicated to growing the game of golf among young players by providing age-appropriate equipment, competitive tournaments, and structured learning programs. Founded in 1996, U.S. Kids Golf focuses on making golf fun and accessible for children while promoting skill development and good sportsmanship. One of the program’s key components is its family-friendly tournaments, which offer competitive opportunities for junior golfers at local, state, national, and international levels. Events include the Local Tours, State Invitational, Regional Championships, and the prestigious U.S. Kids Golf World Championship at Pinehurst, attracting young golfers from around the world. US Kids offers local "tours" in which kids from the age of 6 up to teens can participate in. Kids usually participate in events on a tour with the final event being the tour championship. Participants earn points for each tournament that determines the tour championship final standings. The Kansas City tour has both a spring and fall option for youth golfers, and is ran by a dedicated local director, Todd Misemer MariMack is unable to host a US Kids event due to the nature of the rules for their tournaments. The tournaments are structured to allow a young golfer, no matter their age, to play a full bag of clubs. They do this by adjusting the location of tee boxes based upon ages of participants. It allows a golfer to gain the confidence over time to compete and grow based upon their expected ability level. So, they actually need full length courses to hold events since the teenagers end up teeing off of the back tees at most local courses.
