Open Print Studio

Wednesday sessions, 5 Nov (compulsory studio induction session for new participants only), 12, 19, 26 Nov, 3, 10, 17 Dec.

2 – 4.30 pm

This program is designed for experienced printmakers who are confident working independently in a studio environment.

Eligibility Requirements:To ensure a safe and productive environment, participants must:

• demonstrate prior experience using a press
• be capable of working without direct supervision
• have comprehensive knowledge of studio printmaking equipment and safe printmaking practices
• be fully competent in the setup, operation, and maintenance of the press
• adhere strictly to all Studio Guidelines

Please note that participants may be working alone in the studio at times. A high level of self-sufficiency, technical skill, and problem-solving ability is essential. Our press: Richeson Small Geared Block Printing/Etching Press. Maximum print size is 305 x 635mm. Suitable for intaglio, lino and collagraph plates.

Extra info: Due to lack of exhaust ventilation the use of etching chemicals or solvent based inks will not be permitted. All inks used must be water based. There will be a compulsory Safety and Induction Session, Wednesday 5 November for new participants.

Bring with you: You will need to supply your own printing plates, etching and carving tools, paper and water-based ink.

Equipment available for use at sessions: Brayers, inking plates, cutting knives, cutting mats, lino tools, towels and etching press are all available as part of the program.
