Foraging and eating wild foods are nothing new in the ancient land of Australia – First Nations Australians became specialists at it for over 50,000 years.
So what remains of this harvest, how do we find our ‘weeds eyes’, and how does foraging change the way we imagine Australia and manage our human modified and wild lands into
the future?
Diego Bonetto has spent 30 years of his life amazed at the bounty of Australia after growing up on a dairy farm in Italy, a time when it was still common to collect the wild food of the land.
*****
4:30pm-5:30pm - Talk 2 - Professor Rachael Gallgher, interviewed by Gregg Borschmann (ABC RN)
Megalong Community Hall
45minutes followed by a Q&A.
Tickets: Registration by Donation
Rachel Gallagher is a straight shooter, one of Australia’s most respected plant ecologists and conservation biologists.
Her message is simple. If we don’t save our plants, we won’t save ourselves. What she calls ‘the hellfire of climate change’ has implications that scientists like her understand all too well, but there are still plenty of options for protection, restoration and a more sustainable future.
A compelling conversation on a new deal for nature, and a better future for us, with writer, radio producer and oral historian GREGG BORSCHMANN.
