Auch als Talententdecker spielte er eine wichtige Rolle, Musiker wie Pat Metheny, Larry Corryell, Makato Ozone, Julian Lage und Kurt Rosenwinkel wurden von ihm gefördert.

Die Musik von Gary Burton wird von einer Band um den Vibraphonisten Max Pallmann, der bei Gary Burton Unterricht hatte, präsentiert. Der aus einer Musikerfamilie stammende Max Pallmann der auch spielte zuerst Schlagzeug bevor er mit 13 Jahren das Vibraphon für sich entdeckte. Schön früh wurde er im süddeutschen Raum mit Formationen wie dem Christoph
Heringer Quartett und der Band ULIsees als Vibraphonist und Schlagzeuger bekannt. Begleitet wird er an diesem Abend von der Rhytmusgruppe des Robin Mock Quartetts, zusammen werden die vier Musiker eine Reise durch die gesamte Laufbahn von Gary Burton unternehmen.
