Maa Dharti Project : Chapter One
Maa Dharti Project
Chapter 1: Karachi Monsoon 2018 Tree Plantation
(One Step towards Repair)
Culture is incomplete without Eco-culture. Today more and more people are finally realising the impact of climate change and global warming. On an average 137 species of animals are going extinct every day due to deforestation. Pakistan has the 4th highest rate of water-use in the world, but according to evaluation reports we could ‘run dry’ by 2025! The time to act is now!
In acceptance of our role as a central socio-cultural platform of Karachi, T2F in collaboration with Tofiq Pasha’s World (The Mali) is pleased to announce the commencement of the Maa Dharti Project – a series of seminars and initiatives culminating in strategies and mini-projects aimed at repairing the ecosystem of the city. Some of the subjects covered in the seminars will include: tree-plantation; water-management; recycling and disposal of garbage; breathing quality-air; vegetable and rooftop gardens; urban forests; safeguarding mangroves; and Eco-awareness.
The title of the first seminar of The Maa Dharti Project is, “Karachi Monsoon 2018 Tree Plantation – One Step towards Repair”, and will be conducted by Tofiq Pasha Mooraj (The Mali), at the Faraar Gallery, T2F on 26th June from 6:30 to 8pm.
