Michael B. Tipton’s greatest secret weapons for energizing live performances is his extensive network of top-tier players and his honed-in frontman skills. Like his idol, Bob Wills, Michael can create a show with top-notch performers to everyone’s benefit. Songs that fall between the swing of Bob Wills and the sting of Sturgill Simpson is where his music lives. Luck’s A Deaf Dog, for example, is rooted deep in Waylon Jennings’ interpretation of country music while Head On is the type of testimonial that only Michael can give. Starting with Michael Tipton & Friends nights at The Pairing in Kansas City, his act solidified over time to include pedal steel guitar and down-and-dirty lead guitar, leading him to open for national acts on large stages and selling out venues like Knuckleheads’ Gospel Lounge. But it all comes down to getting the crowd involved and up out of their seats. “I have no idea what the crowd thinks of my songs unless they dance,” he says. “The goal of all my live performances are to touch people’s hearts in a way that their asses follow it to the dancefloor.” He also boasts several covers that span the 1940s-present day traditional country music. Michael and his band have shared festival stages with Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit (2023), Michael Ray (Warner Bros, 2023), Nathaniel Rateliff (2022), and numerous regional acts.
Michael released an album in October 2023, which was met with numerous playlist adds and local media coverage. The concept album “Out of the Woods” is a country music-backed walk through the darkest moments of life and love, before the dawn and new beginning.

Western Cuts
Western Cuts came together in 2023, grounded in shared history and a commitment to the roots of outlaw country and western swing. Comprising Clay Helms (vocals, guitar), Watchman Whitworth (lead guitar, vocals), Sam Shoemaker (pedal steel), Delia Cashman (bass), and Luke Paulson (drums), The band channels the classic country and western sound of the 50s through the 70s, reminiscent of icons like Waylon and Willie, Commander Cody, George Jones, Buck Owens, and Hank Williams.
