He studied under Lee Konitz and Charlie Haden at the New School and CalArts. He's lived and performed in Japan, New York City, and Los Angeles. He co-founded the Los Angeles Jazz Collective. He's recorded on over 50 albums — including work with the Grammy-nominated Anthony Wilson Nonet — and his own releases on Origin Records have earned four-star reviews in DownBeat and All About Jazz.But don't let the resume fool you into expecting anything clinical. Otto's playing is lyrical, exploratory, and deeply personal — a light tone with harmonic depth that invites you in rather than showing you out.
