Friday, she headlines the Blue Room, a few blocks from where it all started.In between, she's covered serious ground. JaySol has sung background vocals for R&B great Howard Hewett, toured on Charlie Wilson's "In It to Win It" revue alongside La'Porsha Renae and Anthony Hamilton, and took home Kansas City's People's Choice Award for Best Female Vocalist in 2020. Hers is a rich contralto that refuses to sit in one lane — gospel, soul, funk, R&B, and pop all live in the same set — and she'll tell you so herself: she loves that she "doesn't fit an exact box."With her band, Sol Movement, behind her, she builds her shows around the thing that's hardest to fake — a real connection with the room.
