Note: This paddle was originally planned for the weekend before but has needed to be delayed and will now take place from 27-29 March.
Looking for a fun and scenic paddling getaway? Club members are invited to spend a relaxed beginners/intermediate‑level weekend exploring the beautiful waters of Lake Yarrunga, between Bendeela Camping and Picnic Ground and Fossickers Flat.
This stunning lake winds through two flooded river valleys—the Kangaroo and Shoalhaven Rivers—and offers around 35 km of calm, flat water framed by the breathtaking cliffs of the Shoalhaven Gorge. It’s truly one of Australia’s most spectacular flat‑water paddling locations. For more location information see the Destinations Page on the club Website.
We’ll run a variety of paddles over the weekend, ranging from 14 km to 27 km, so there’s something for everyone. Depending on group size and abilities, we may split into smaller paddling groups, with longer distances available for more experienced paddlers.
This trip is perfect for anyone who has completed the River Canoe Club Beginners Course and can comfortably paddle 16 km and perform a wet exit. The trip is suitable for sea kayaks and canoes.
The weekend spans three days, but you’re welcome to join for fewer days if that suits you. Our main paddle will explore the Kangaroo Arm of Lake Yarrunga as far as Acacia Flat or Beehive Point and will take place on Saturday but there will be other paddles throughout the weekend.
You must register to participate in this weekend. For more information and a link to register see the calendar entry on the club's website:
