- **Event Description**: An outdoor experience for educators to explore the mass migration of Golden Eagles over the front-ranges of the Rocky Mountains.About this EventSince time immemorial, a mass migration has taken place in the skies over our Rocky Mountains. Bi-annually the Golden Eagle migration occurs in our front ranges, a 11,000 year route that takes these raptors from their northern breeding sites to their southern wintering grounds. You will learn about these amazing birds while walking along the banks of the Kananaskis River and enjoying a bite to eat by beautiful Troll Falls. We will also stop at the Rocky Mountain Eagle Research Foundation counting site to see if we can spot one of these incredible raptors and to learn about a uniquely Albertan citizen science project.Location & Logisitcs: This excursion will take place on the Troll Falls/Hay Meadow trails at the base of Nakiska and the Pomeroy Hotel. This is a 3.5 km loop with +60 metres of elevation gain. The goal for the day is to provide an opportunity to connect with other educators and the local landscape. You will come away innovative ideas to bring nature back to your classroom. This program is about 2.5 hours in length.
