What you'll learn:

Daily 9 AM to 5 PM (Day 3 may shift with weather, firing day).

Day 1: Identifying and processing wild clay (provided). Lunch on your own from noon to 1. Afternoon covers hand-building techniques: coil and scrape, paddle and anvil, and more.

Day 2: Burnishing and painting with red iron oxide and various wild clay colors. Time to finish Day 1 projects.

Day 3: Firing day. We tend the trench kiln, a pit lined with rocks, in Jake's backyard. Weather-dependent schedule.

Day 4 (morning only): Pots come out of the pit. Always like Christmas morning, you never quite know how the fire will mark them. Group photo, then we head out.
