House music was born from the queer underground. Emerging in the late 1970s and early ’80s in Chicago and New York, it grew out of the disco era - a time when queer, Black, and Latinx communities carved out safe spaces to express themselves freely on the dance floor. Clubs like The Warehouse (where “house” music got its name) became sanctuaries where DJs like Frankie Knuckles spun beats that celebrated love, unity, and liberation.
That same pulse of freedom still moves through our community today. Where every beat is a reminder that the dance floor is sacred, the rhythm is resistance and we belong.
