About this Event

This 3 Day Course is designed for those who have already completed the Holistic Management Fundamental courses(Introduction to Regenerative Agriculture).

We will go over 3 separate Planning Procedures that are a necessity to transforming your land that benefit you and your family to be prosperous for generations if that is what you desire.

Day 1: Holistic Planned Grazing - Learn from the experience of thousands of ranchers that led to the original grazing planning method that has been referred by many names: such as "rotational grazing", "adaptive grazing", "mob grazing", "intensive grazing", etc.

Learning Objectives:

  • Address and Identify the landscape you are wanting to create.
  • Make a grazing plan that will achieve your financial goals on the land.
  • The how and why Holistic Planned Grazing improves animal performance and numbers on your ranch.
  • Minimize overgrazing and how to easily measure what forage is available and increase forage yields with Ecosystem tools
  • Understand the recovery needs of plants
  • Drought planning
  • Learn how long animals can stay in a paddock or pasture before moving
  • Improve efficiency of Labor and increase quality of life for your family/business.
  • Growing Season Grazing Plan.
  • Non Growing Season Grazing Plan.

Day 2: Holistic Finacial Planning/Land Planning - Our goal the first half of this day is to help your see possibilities of profitability solely through the land in a way that boosts its value and cashflow of your enterprise. Holistic Financial Planning brings traditional financial planning into syc with your Holistic context and how you want your life to be. Bring your numbers! During the second half of the day we

  • Make a gross profit analyses aligned with your Holistic Context.
  • Experience a real life Financial Planning brainstorm session!
  • Financial Weak Links
  • Sources of Wealth: The distinction between solar dollar, mineral dollars, paper dollars.
  • Identifying Logjams and how to deal with them.

Learning Objectives (Land Planning):

  • Identifying issues implementing an effective grazing/farming operation.
  • Tools for mapping, identifying acreage and future resource possibilities
  • Identifying current and future herd size and the issues that arise.
  • Land Planning brainstorm session!
  • Implementing the plan checked against context checks, Marginal Reaction.

Day 3: Ecologicial Monitoring - “If you haven't ever monitored your land before, taking the responsibility for monitoring your land and yourself should symbolize a significant shift in your whole approach to management. Almost all stock growers weigh their animals at least once a year.   • Come away with a deep understanding of the observable characteristics of the Water Cycle, Mineral Cycle, Community Dynamics, and Energy flow on the surface of the land.
  • Understand the difference between leading and lagging indicators when it comes to the world of land monitoring
  • Be able to observe soil capping and understand the tools to create a more water absorbable surface.
  • Be able to “read the land”.
  • Come away with the confidence to institute the Basic and Comprehensive monitoring protocols on your land.
  • Create a personalized feedback loop that will benefit your operation to allow to quickly and proactively replan during adverse conditions or if a decision didn't have the result you expected.
